Minor Hockey Development Program

Elite Hockey also works with minor hockey associations offering a unique program allowing Minor Hockey Associations the ability to deliver consistent programming from Novice through Midget levels by supplying the appropriate resources and coaching development necessary to provide a comprehensive hockey experience for players.

We supply the only curriculum-based development model that provides minor hockey coaches with relevant and age-specific hockey knowledge to deliver consistent skill development for all player levels. Manuals provided are for:  Novice, Atom, Peewee, Bantam and Midget. The curriculum recommends the appropriate skills and tactics for each age level with high tempo, high flow on-ice drills, into weekly practice plans for the entire season.

Our Elite Minor Hockey Development Program also includes a series of on-ice skills tests that can be administered twice (pre and post) throughout the hockey season and will measure the progress of skills development against well established proficiency standards that will indicate if, and how well, these standards are being met. The Board of Directors will receive (1) team profiles and (2) individual player profiles to be used for overall monitoring and tracking purposes.

To monitor coaching proficiency, a Team Tracking System is also utilized to track information within three (3) key areas that are a direct result of coaching: (1) Team Proficiency Standards, (2) Team Training Standards, and (3) Game Analysis Summary Reports.

Measureable Outcomes

It is very important for Minor Hockey Associations and their coaches to establish very clear, measureable outcomes that will continuously monitor the actual progress of individual players and teams. This progress should be measured against established proficiency standards that will tell you if, and how well, these standards are being met.

The Elite Minor Hockey Development Program provides a system of testing and reporting to enable players, coaches, and parents to be kept apprised of player and team progress. Specialized graphs are provided to the Association, coaches, players, and parents so that everyone is aware of individual and team progress.

The Hockey Development Director is able to administer a series of on-ice tests that will measure the actual progress of coaches, teams, and players against established standards. The technical skills appraisal which contains the test results of the players and teams must be properly interpreted and accurate comparisons should be made between the pre-test and post-test data. All test results are based on “percentile scores” and are measured against a “skill proficiency standard”.
