Drill Design

Our drills are uniquely designed
In order to improve skating skills and basic technical skills, you must be able to improve power. Power is a component of the nervous system. Developing this power will increase motor unit recruitment & activation of the nervous system, altering of the firing rate of motor units, synchronization of the motor units and enhance removal of neural inhibition.
Drills need to be designed in such a way that will accomplish the above development. For example, increasing speed requires longer force development & activation which is achieved by varying the distance a player skates within the drill. Players should move from area to area and the distance implicated in each area should combine short and long skating patterns. Also, the speed of execution must be increased to its maximum in order to maintain constant velocities while playing the game.
For example, in practice, when executing tactical drills, coaches should limit the drills when players attack the net without resistance (i.e. 2 on 0, breakaways). To create this high velocity skating pattern you require back checkers, fore checkers, 1 on 1 tactics etc. to ensure players increase their speed while executing the drill, which makes skill development extremely game specific.
Our drills are designed to accomplish many objectives:
- Skill Development
- Tactical Patternization
- Systems Patternization
- Increase Skating Acceleration
- Increase Skating Speed
- Develop Pivoting Skills to Perform Checking Skills
- Develop Skating Agility, Balance and Rhythm
- Develop Puck Handling at High Speed
- Improve Conditioning (Anaerobic Threshold)
